Junior Sailing Course
For children in grades 3 to 6 of elementary school. We run 6 sessions in the spring term and 6 in the autumn term. Children learn water safety and learn to sail on their own.

The autumn 2026 course (6 sessions) is under way. Applications for this term are closed. Thank you for applying. We will announce the next course on this page and in our news as soon as it is decided.
Not in elementary school? Anyone can try sailing at our sailing experience sessions. Come with your family, or even your pet. About the sailing experience
Feel the wind and learn to think for yourself
Sailing builds judgment, the courage to try, and teamwork. These are hard to learn from games or study alone.
A sailboat has no engine. You watch the wind and your surroundings, catch the wind and move forward. It is a series of thinking, trying and overcoming on your own.
While having fun, children grow in confidence and in their ability to think.
Safe, even for beginners
- We use boats that do not capsize, developed so that people with disabilities can sail too
- The boats are safe enough for wheelchair users and for people with visual or hearing impairments
- Experienced staff support the children
- Children also learn about safety on the water and what to do if they fall in
Koto City has a lot of waterfront. Learning how to protect yourself in an emergency is an important lesson for children.
Skills that sailing builds
Children build life skills that are hard to learn at school, while having fun.
- Judgment: watching the wind and other boats to decide where to go
- Problem solving: finding a way through when things do not go as planned
- Communication: working together with friends to take on a challenge
When the boat finally goes where they want, children feel a great sense of achievement and confidence.
For children who live near the water
Koto City has many rivers and canals. Because the water is so close, it is important to learn how to enjoy it safely.
Knowing the waterfront around you and how to enjoy it safely will help in daily life, too.
Children from outside Koto City are also welcome. The pier is a 10-minute walk from Toyosu Station (Yurakucho Line and Yurikamome).
Beginners are very welcome
“My child is not very sporty. Is that OK?” “We have never sailed before. Can my child do it?” Children like this can join with confidence.
Sailing is a sport that uses both body and mind. It suits children who love playing outside and children who like to think things through.
Almost all the children start as complete beginners.
Advanced course for returning children
For children joining for the second time or more, we offer an advanced course to build their skills further.

A word from a parent
At the sailing course, my daughter made lots of new friends and looked like she was having a great time. It was lovely to see her talking with older children. Getting to know older kids she would not normally meet was really valuable. She also talked a lot with the instructors, which I think was a great experience. Talking with adults other than parents and teachers really broadens a child’s view.
I also got to ride in a boat my daughter was sailing. I still thought of her as a little girl, so seeing her control the boat so confidently moved me deeply.
Even after finishing the course, she still helps out. She helps at the reception and picks up litter from the water. We are very grateful for these experiences outside of school. She joins once or twice a month, and it is a good refresher for her too.
Thank you for these wonderful experiences.
